Planning a wedding in the desert
Travel takes more planning
Jaisalmer has an airport, but flights are limited and change with the season. Many guests fly to Jodhpur and drive about five hours, while others take the train. We plan each guest's route and arrange transfers so the long journey is as easy as possible.
Cold nights, warm days
Desert nights in December and January get properly cold. We plan heaters, covered seating and shawls for evening functions, and keep daytime events short and shaded. April to June is too hot for most weddings, so the season runs from October to March.
Wind and sand
Décor in the dunes has to be weighted and wind-proof, and guests need practical footwear. We pick a setting that is sheltered, reachable by vehicle and easy to light after dark.
