Booking a luxury wedding venue in India looks simple from the outside. You pick a palace or a resort, ask for a quote and sign. In practice, most couples and families end up speaking to four or five hotel sales teams, comparing quotes that are built differently, and signing a contract with clauses nobody explained to them.
We have spent a long time on the hotel side of these conversations. Our team at My Event Curator has more than 50 years of combined experience in luxury hospitality, and this guide explains what a venue booking really involves, where people usually get stuck, and how we take that work off your hands.
A wedding booking at a luxury hotel is not one purchase. It is a bundle of separate commitments that sit inside one contract:
Each of these can be negotiated, and each can cause problems later if it is not read carefully. That is the part most people underestimate.
None of these are signs of a bad hotel. They are simply how hotel sales work. But if you have never booked a wedding before, they catch you off guard.
One hotel quotes per room per night, another quotes a package per guest, a third includes some functions and leaves others out. Putting three quotes side by side and working out which one is actually better takes time and experience.
Hotels will often hold a date for a short period while you decide. If the hold expires and another family confirms, the date is gone. On popular muhurat dates, this happens more often than people expect.
Most contracts say how many rooms you can release, and by when, without paying for them. If your guest list shrinks after that date, you may still be charged for the rooms. Many families only find this clause after the guest list changes.
Functions usually carry a minimum guest count or a minimum spend. If a function ends up smaller than planned, the minimum still applies.
Some hotels allow only their empanelled decorators or caterers, some charge a fee for outside vendors, and heritage properties may limit what can be fixed to walls or floors. These rules shape your whole planning budget, so they need to be clear before you sign.
Outdoor music usually has to stop by 10 pm. Some venues also have rules on fireworks, the havan fire or the baraat route. Finding this out after booking can force you to redesign a function.
Payment schedules, cancellation charges and what happens if you move the date differ from hotel to hotel. They are rarely discussed in the first conversation.
Comparing five venues means five sets of calls, emails, revised quotes and follow-ups, usually while you are also handling family expectations. It becomes a part-time job.
We sit on your side of the table. Our job is to make sure you choose the right venue for your guest list and sign terms you fully understand.

We work with palace hotels, heritage forts and luxury resorts across India's most popular wedding destinations:
For a wedding between November and February, start 9 to 12 months ahead. Popular muhurat dates go first, especially at palace hotels with limited rooms. If your dates are flexible, a shorter timeline can still work, and mid-week dates often give you more choice.
Not necessarily. Hotels often have more than one way of quoting a wedding, and the final terms depend on dates, room numbers and inclusions. A booking partner with long-standing hotel relationships can often discuss these terms in ways a first-time client cannot.
For November to February, 9 to 12 months ahead. Popular muhurat dates and smaller palace hotels fill first.
Yes. Many clients use us only for the hotel and venue booking and handle planning on their own or with their own planner.
A room block is the set of rooms the hotel keeps aside for your guests. The contract usually says how many you can release without charge and by when. Missing that date can mean paying for rooms nobody uses.
Yes. We arrange visits to shortlisted venues and join you where possible, so you can see the spaces and ask the right questions.
Send us your preferred dates, guest count and the number of rooms you need. We check availability with the hotels, compare the terms side by side and come back with a shortlist you can actually decide from.
